Owners Rob & Connie Quinton started the business by following in the footsteps of Rob’s father, who loved the food industry and working with people. From modest beginnings, the business has grown into one of Calgary’s best-known catering companies.
Distinctive now orchestrates elaborate upscale events of all kinds, as well as catering to corporate Calgary. We’ll go anywhere that people are craving a great meal – from weddings and Christmas dinners, to Stampede events and corporate receptions, and everything in between.
Our team is more like a family, and they are the key to our success. We employ 15 full-time staff, as well as banquet servers and managers who keep our workplace fun and friendly. If you combine our experience, you have over 200 years of knowledge in the hospitality industry!
About our culinary team
Executive Chef Victor Munoz – Distinctive Catering is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Executive Chef, Victor Munoz. Victor immigrated to Canada from Santiago Chile in 1993, graduated from SAIT in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1998, and from Professional Cooking in 1999. Well versed in on-premise catering and fine dining, Chef Munoz looks forward to bringing his culinary experience and gastronomical flair to Distinctive’s off-premise corporate and special event catering.
Red Seal Certified, Chef Munoz brings over 17 years of experience to his new post having worked internationally in Canada, Aruba, Chile and Brazil for high-end restaurants and hotels including the Marriott and Delta Hotels International, Borealis Pond Restaurant, Coast Plaza Hotel, Red Water Rustic grill and as a Sous and Executive Chef for Heritage Pointe Golf Club.
Victor possesses a passion for fresh flavours and enjoys putting a contemporary spin on classic dishes. Winner of the Lawson Lundell Celebrity Hors d’oeuvres competition 2015, in the ‘Best in Spread’ category, Victor showcased his culinary and molecular gastronomy skills with his captivating creation “Coffee and Peach Glazed Pork Belly with compressed Watermelon”.

Sous Chef Richard Groom has been working in the Calgary culinary scene since 2002 spending time at Catch, The Oyster Bar, Blink, The Trib Steakhouse as well as a three month internship at the prestigious Sooke Harbour House and a summer tour of Italy with his classmates for SAIT Polytechnic. While under the tutelage of award winning chefs he has gained a knowledge and appreciation for fine cuisine and service which he is excited to bring to the kitchen at Distinctive Catering.
